Key Entry Points at St Margaret’s Hampstead

At St Margaret’s Hampstead, we believe in providing a seamless educational journey, with carefully designed entry points that align with the key stages of a girl’s development. While we welcome enquiries for places in all year groups, our main points of entry are Reception, Year 3 and Year 7.

Our admissions process is designed to identify pupils who will thrive in our academic and pastoral environment. Our criteria for selection include a prospective pupil's academic performance, a reference from her current school and a sense of commitment from parents regarding their daughter’s education and engagement with our school’s ethos.

Key Entry Points

Reception (4+) entry

For girls starting their school journey, Reception is a joyful and nurturing environment designed to lay the foundations for a lifelong love of learning. Parents who have registered their daughter with the school will be invited for an assessment with a member of our infant staff. This assessment takes place during the autumn term of the year preceding your daughter's September entry.
Key Entry Points

Year 3 (7+) entry

Year 3 marks the start of the Junior School, where girls begin to develop greater independence and academic skills. Admission to this year is based on your daughter's performance in our 7+ examination. This assessment includes papers in both English and Mathematics, followed by a short informal interview.
Key Entry Points

Year 7 (11+) entry

Year 7 is the main entry point into the Senior School, where girls begin to specialise and prepare for their GCSEs. St Margaret’s Hampstead is a member of The London 11+ Consortium, which administers a single entrance examination for entry into Year 7 for 13 different London schools.
