Your school charity, making a positive difference to our community

What we do

FoSM has two objectives:

Build community
We arrange events that bring parents, pupils and staff together, such as welcome gatherings, quiz nights, fairs, talks and school activities.

Enhance school life
We raise money to support learning, wellbeing and enrichment across the school.

Some FoSM events focus on fundraising. Other events are purely about connection and enrichment. Every event is designed to have a positive impact on our school community.

Who we are

Friends of St Margaret’s School Hampstead (FoSM) is the school’s independent, parent-led registered charity (No. 1216202). Led by volunteer trustees and supported by a network of parent class representatives, we work in close partnership with the school to strengthen our community and advance the education and wellbeing of every pupil.

We bring students, families, alumni and our wider community together through events and initiatives designed to foster connection and belonging, while raising funds to create meaningful opportunities across the school. Every pound raised by FoSM is carefully stewarded and reinvested in the school to support learning, enrichment and school community activities.

Events

Throughout the year, FoSM organises and supports a range of engaging events for the junior and senior school.

Examples include:

  • welcome events for new families
  • school uniform sales
  • festive gatherings
  • quiz night
  • summer fair
  • parent talks and seminars
  • fundraising challenges.

Our events are designed to create memorable experiences that bring our community together while supporting the school. Details of upcoming events are shared in the school’s weekly newsletter and through our parent class representatives.

Our Trustees

FoSM is led by a small group of volunteer parents who serve as Trustees of the charity.
Trustees provide oversight, set priorities and ensure that funds are used responsibly and in line with our charitable purpose. Trustees act in the best interests of the pupils and wider school community.

Trustees serve in a voluntary capacity and receive no payment for their role.

How you can get involved

FoSM thrives because parents get involved. We’re hugely grateful for our class representatives and parent volunteers. Whether you can give time, ideas, energy or practical help, there is a place for you. You might:

  • volunteer at an event
  • join a planning group
  • help source raffle or auction prizes
  • support communications or logistics
  • offer professional expertise
  • make a donation.

Your support, your time, and even the smallest contributions make a truly meaningful difference. If you would like to get involved, please email us at: info_fosm@st-margarets.co.uk

How we work

As a registered charity, FoSM operates with clear structure and accountability.

  • Trustee meetings are held regularly throughout the school year.
  • Trustees meet with parent class representatives and the school’s senior leadership team approximately every six weeks to collaborate on events.
  • All funds are held in the charity’s designated bank account.
  • Financial records are carefully maintained and reviewed annually.
  • Trustees declare and appropriately manage any conflicts of interest.
  • Trustees meet with the school governors annually.

We also work closely and in partnership with the school’s senior leadership team to identify priorities, while maintaining independent oversight of funds.

Donate to FoSM and make a difference

We are grateful for your support. Every contribution makes a meaningful difference to the pupils of St Margaret’s, helping to enhance learning, wellbeing, and enriching opportunities throughout the school. As a registered charity, FoSM ensures all funds are carefully managed and used solely to support its charitable purpose.
