Board of Governors

The Governors of the School, who are also Trustees of the charity that operates it, determine the aims, strategy and overall conduct of the school. They set and review the policies, plans and procedures that will ensure the best possible education for present and future pupils of St Margaret's Hampstead. They are responsible for legal and regulatory compliance and risk management, financial propriety, strategic direction, the maintenance of standards and the guardianship of the charity's assets. Responsibility for the day-to-day management of the school is delegated to the Head.

Emily Brettle

Emily Brettle

Emily studied Classics at New College, Oxford, and then became a solicitor in the City of London, specialising in competition law. She has been teaching Latin at The Academy School in Hampstead since 2009. Emily is married with three sons and her family enjoy spending their holidays in the Lake District.

Dawn Atkinson

Dawn Atkinson

Since 2021

Dawn started her NHS career as a nurse and has held a number of senior NHS management, nursing and national leadership roles with a background in healthcare governance, regulation, quality and standards. Dawn is a senior manager for a local NHS trust and is married with a daughter, a previous pupil at St Margaret’s Hampstead.

Michael Feldman

Michael is a Chartered Certified Accountant now retired with 44 years experience in the profession specialising in investment management and charities. He has been a governor since 2008, with a short pause, Michael is now serving a second term with particular emphasis on finance and charitable status.

Dugald MacNeill

Dugald MacNeill

Since 2014

Dugald’s career has been in the manufacturing and IT industries, where he implemented and managed quality, environmental and information security certified management systems. His other interests include voluntary charity work and supporting Arsenal.

Tina Marton

Tina Marton

Since 2018

Tina has been a resident of Hampstead for over 30 years and, in that time, has been involved in the local charitable sector. She is an active member of the local resident’s association and has three children.

Lydia McBride

Lydia McBride

Since 2022

Lydia started her career in teaching and since 1984 has been a Financial Adviser. She is also a Founding Partner of a FTSE 100 company specialising in portfolio management, inheritance tax and charitable trusts. She is married with one daughter, lives in Barnet and enjoys travelling, walking, music, theatre and reading.

Marie Claire Mendham

Marie Claire Mendham

Since 2018

Marie was previously Head of Psychology for the NHS across 5 boroughs, and was also the strategic lead for developing psychological care for inpatient services. She has experience in a wide range of environments, from prison to primary and secondary care to rehabilitation. Marie also has experience working as a change management and stress management consultant.

Alistair Tresidder

Alistair Tresidder

Since 2023

Alistair has been the vicar of St Luke’s Church in Kidderpore Avenue for 25 years and is his second time of being a governor at the school. Alistair’s two daughters attended St Margaret’s Hampstead, where they loved their time as pupils. Both of them were able to attend their first choice of school for A Levels after their GCSEs.

Adrian Wayne

Since 2007

Adrian is a GP, now retired, having practised in both the NHS and private sector for 40 years. He was a partner in a large, local, teaching practice, having been a GP trainer and F2 clinical supervisor. His interests lay in child health, mental health and medicine for the elderly. Dr Wayne is the nominated  governor for Safeguarding at St Margaret’s Hampstead. In his spare time now, he enjoys his young  grandchildren and volunteering at London Zoo.

Michelle Wayne

Michelle Wayne

Michelle has been involved for 30 years in administration in investment banking and schools, combined with parallel careers in professional tennis coaching and modern languages. She enjoys travel, opera and all sports, and is married to a local GP with two grown-up daughters. As Michelle Ballheimer, she was a St Margaret’s Hampstead pupil in the 1960s.
