PE in the Senior School builds on the skills that the girls have developed through their previous experience. The aim is to promote participation as an individual with each pupil being encouraged to acquire new skills or develop existing ones to the very best of their ability. We endeavour to achieve a balance in the activities offered so that there is a sense of 'sport for all' and so that they also discover their own aptitudes and preferences for different activities.
Each year there will be core activities that run throughout the year groups, such as netball and rounders. This ensures that progress and a good level of competence are achieved by all the girls. To add variety and a balance to the programme they are also offered a range of activities. Through their time in the Senior School the activities include; badminton, volleyball, football, dance, hockey, rowing, trampolining and climbing.
Many fixtures are held throughout the year where the majority of girls have the opportunity to represent the school in inter-school matches. Lunch time and break time clubs are run which are open to anyone who wishes to play inter-class matches in a fun and yet competitive spirit. These clubs prove to be very popular. We have the use of excellent facilities including outside courts, a dance studio, sports hall, fitness gym and the wonderful Heath Extension for our summer sports.
